Erin McGee Ferrell

As a professional working visual artist, my passion is oil painting. I lecture and teach on merging traditional oil painting techniques with new technology and materials. Recent series include Insect Hotels, Turkey-Syria Earthquake, Formula 1, Dog & Camel, and Crossing which have used NFC's to link audio and video under paint to engage viewers and document the making.

In my Kentucky Studio I have begun a new series of large oil on canvas works entitled, Girl and Horse. This series holds my interest on many levels. One part is my intrigue with the Middle East and at the same time re-establishing myself back in my home state of Kentucky. I use the thoroughbred horse as a common thread.  The Girl and the Horse Series is a statement about the challenges creatives face with generative artificial intellegence. Erin McGee Ferrell is a Master Oil Painter, and has taught Visual Communication and Design to Medical students at The University of New England.

Erin McGee Ferrell is an internationally celebrated artist renowned for her innovative fusion of classical oil painting techniques with cutting-edge technology. Ferrell's work gained global recognition following her solo exhibition in Bahrain during the esteemed Annual Spring of Culture, where she showcased a captivating series of paintings inspired by two years at the Formula 1 Grand Prix. In February 2024, Ferrell further distinguished herself as a speaker in Saudi Arabia, representing the US State Department on the integration of AI and art in non-artistic domains. As an educator, Ferrell has imparted her knowledge and skills to students at The University of New England in Maine for the past four years. Her academic background is as diverse as her artistic practice, holding degrees from Mount Holyoke College and the University of the Arts Philadelphia, and further enriched by studies at Pennsylvania School of Fine Arts, Maine College of Art, the Art Students League of NYC, and the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Ferrell's work not only traverses geographic boundaries but also blurs the lines between traditional art forms and modern technological advancements, making her a pivotal figure in the contemporary art world.
